Key findings

  • Despite a slight dip in hiring expectations, Swiss companies show resilience and optimistism for the next three months: they reported a net employment outlook (NEO) of 29% for the first quarter of 2025. 

  • Seven out of nine Swiss industry sectors expect increased staffing in Q1 2025 with Health Care & Life Sciences leading with a record NEO of 46%, an increase of 11 points from last quarter and 17 points year-on-year.

  • Hiring intentions in Swiss regions vary. Zurich leads with a NEO of 40%, while Nordwestschweiz shows the highest growth at 36%. Ticino faces challenges with a negative NEO of -14%. These differences reflect diverse local economic conditions.

  • A lack of skilled talent is a critical concern across industries. For example, 94% of employers in Information Technology report "some or a lot of difficulty" to find skilled talents. Similar difficulties are reported by Health Care & Life Sciences (85%), Energy & Utilities and Consumer Services (both 82%).

Internationally, ManpowerGroup surveys approximately 40000 employers in 40 countries. In Switzerland, the national survey is conducted by Right Management Consultants. More than 500 employers from various industries were surveyed.
